Purdue Student Free consultation

Does Purdue Global accept financial aid?

Yes. Institutional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission is what makes a school eligible for federal student aid, and Purdue Global holds it in its own right. The complication is not getting aid. It is what happens to aid when your enrolment changes mid-term.

Why accreditation is the gateway

Federal aid eligibility runs through recognised institutional accreditation. Purdue Global is accredited by HLC, an accreditor recognised by the U.S. Department of Education, so the ordinary federal apparatus applies in the ordinary way.

Being a public nonprofit inside a state university system also places it in a different category from the for-profit online schools it gets compared with, which matters to some employers and some benefit schemes.

The part people are unprepared for

Aid follows enrolment. If you are withdrawn from a term, including administratively for logging no attendance, the aid supporting that term is recalculated and some of it may have to be returned.

That is not unique to this school. What is notable here is how easily administrative withdrawal is triggered, because attendance is recorded by submitted work rather than by logging in.

Employer reimbursement is the other half

Many nurses fund study partly through an employer scheme, and those usually run on a calendar year with a cap. Two questions decide what it is worth to you: when the benefit resets, and whether it pays up front or reimburses after grades post. The second determines whether you carry a term yourself.

What to establish before enrolling

  1. Your aid package for the specific programme and track, in writing.
  2. What happens to it if you withdraw in week two, week five and week nine, because the answers differ.
  3. Your employer cap, its reset date, and whether it pays or reimburses.
  4. How the three-week trial interacts with any of it, since during the trial you are enrolled but not yet liable.

Is Purdue Global eligible for federal financial aid?

Yes. It holds institutional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission, which is the basis for federal aid eligibility.

What happens to my aid if I withdraw?

It is recalculated against your enrolment and some may need to be returned, depending on when the withdrawal happens.

Does the three-week trial affect aid?

Ask the university about your own case, because during the trial you are enrolled but not yet financially liable.
