Purdue Student Free consultation

How many hours a week does Purdue Global take?

Plan around the hours that survive a bad week, not a good one. Terms run ten weeks and two courses is the common working-nurse load. The number that matters is not what you manage in a quiet fortnight, but what you sustain across a rota that keeps changing.

Why the honest number is lower than the intended one

Almost everyone overestimates. Study time is the first thing a double shift takes, and unlike a fixed commitment it disappears without announcing itself. The realistic figure is what remains after a week has gone wrong, because some weeks will.

Work it out by subtraction rather than intention. From the hours you are awake and not rostered, remove commuting, family, sleep debt and recovery. What is left is the budget.

What the format does to that number

Purdue Global runs scheduled Seminars, which are live. Recordings exist, and for shift workers the recording is usually the realistic option. Watching one does not log attendance, though, so it never substitutes for submitting work.

The rest is asynchronous: Units of content, discussion boards and assignments. That flexibility is real and it is why the format suits nurses. It also means nothing chases you until a deadline does.

The cost consequence

On the standard per-credit track, fewer hours simply means fewer courses per term and a longer degree rather than a dearer one. On ExcelTrack the same shortfall costs money directly, because a term is charged whole regardless of what you clear inside it.

So your honest weekly figure should choose your track before anything else does.

A sensible planning rule

Take the honest weekly number, cut it by a fifth for the weeks that go wrong, and pick a course load that fits the reduced figure. Finishing steadily beats an ambitious plan that produces a withdrawn term.

How long is a Purdue Global term?

Ten weeks for undergraduates, including ExcelTrack terms.

Are there live classes?

Yes. Seminars are scheduled live sessions, recorded for anyone who cannot attend.

Does watching a recording count as attendance?

No. Attendance is logged by submitting graded work, not by viewing a Seminar.
