Choose Purdue Global for flexibility and for what your past is worth; choose a local campus for name recognition and placement support. Those are the two axes that actually separate them, and nearly every other difference follows from one or the other.
What online genuinely wins
Flexibility that a campus cannot match, monthly starts rather than semester queues, and a prior-learning policy built for people with careers behind them. For a working nurse with an associate degree and a decade of practice, that last point is often decisive: a local campus may not credit anything like as much of what you already did.
What a local campus genuinely wins
Two things, and they are real.
Name. A state university carries local recognition that an online-first institution does not, and no accreditation argument changes that. If prestige is what you are buying, buy it where it is sold.
Placement. Campus programmes usually have standing relationships with local health systems. Purdue Global offers no placement guarantee, so if your programme has a clinical component and you have no route of your own, that gap is the most consequential difference on this page.
What is genuinely a draw
Accreditation. Purdue Global holds HLC institutional accreditation and CCNE for the nursing programmes. For licensure and for most hiring, that is the test, and it is met. Anyone telling you an accredited online BSN will not be accepted should be asked to name the employer refusing it.
The comparison people get wrong
Comparing sticker prices. A campus programme that credits less of your prior learning can easily cost more in total than a per-credit online degree that credits a great deal of it. Compare the number of credits each will actually make you buy, not the rate each advertises.

- Ask the campus programme what placement support it actually provides, in writing.
- Check whether your employer reimburses differently for either.
