Purdue Student Free consultation

What happens if you drop out of Purdue Global?

Timing decides almost everything. A course removed for no attendance by day twenty-one does not appear on your transcript at all. Later withdrawals are reviewed against whether you finished the course, and financial aid is recalculated against your enrolment either way.

Three different exits, three different consequences

Inside the three-week trial. If you are a first-time undergraduate using the Commitment, leaving inside the window costs nothing at all. This is the cleanest exit available anywhere in this network.

Removed for no attendance. A course with no attendance logged by day twenty-one is taken off your schedule and never reaches the transcript. Administratively awkward, academically invisible.

Withdrawing part-way through. At the end of a term, courses without a posted grade are reviewed to establish whether you finished or withdrew, and earning points late in the course counts toward being treated as having finished it. So the point at which you stop changes what is recorded.

Money

Aid is recalculated against your enrolment whenever it changes, and the timing decides how much. That is its own subject, set out in the article on financial aid. The one-line version: ring the university the same day rather than researching it.

Coming back

Re-registration is normal and possible. Two things are worth knowing in advance. A change of status can require re-registering for things already granted, so nothing should be assumed to carry across. And returning students are excluded from the three-week trial, so an interruption quietly raises the cost of your next attempt.

If you are considering it

  1. Establish today which of the three exits you are actually near.
  2. Ask what happens to your aid on that specific date.
  3. Ask whether a leave of absence is available and what it preserves.
  4. If you intend to return, ask what re-registration requires before you leave rather than after.

Does dropping out show on my transcript?

A course removed for no attendance by day twenty-one does not appear on the transcript. Later withdrawals are reviewed differently.

Will I owe money if I withdraw?

Financial aid is recalculated against your enrolment and some may need to be returned, depending on timing.

Can I come back later?

Usually yes, by re-registering, but returning students lose access to the three-week trial.
